Academic team

Our Academic Team is responsible for developing our course materials and delivering our distance learning and apprenticeship training. Members of the team are available during office hours to take your calls and answer any course-related queries you may have.

Expert advice every step of the way

Whether you need help in understanding a topic in your course manual, or are struggling with a question in your study exercise, you can get in touch with the team on the Student Area forum, by email or by phone. On distance learning courses, they will also offer you advice on timetabling at the beginning of your studies to ensure that you have a manageable course load.

Our tutors

CILEx Law School works with team of excellent internal and external tutors who are all subject specialists.They provide personalised and detailed feedback on your study exercises and mock exams submitted through the Student Area. For each course you will be allocated a personal tutor who will mark your work throughout the duration of the course.

Our law coaches and trainers

We have a team of regionally-based law coaches and trainers throughout England who support apprentices in the workplace. Each apprentice is allocated to one of our experienced coaches, who will be the main point of contact for those employed by organisations using CILEx Law School for their apprenticeship delivery.

Meet the team

 Kim Morrison
Kim MorrisonAcademic Director
Kim joined CILEx Law School in September 2010 as a Learning and Development Advisor, providing support to students and advice to law firms and in-house legal departments on CILEx training programmes. She was appointed Academic Manager in 2012 and Academic Director in 2015. She has overall responsibility for the quality and development of all CILEx Law School study programmes. Kim is a member of the Management Team and Academic Management Group. Kim studied French and Modern Greek at Birmingham University, and after a period teaching English in Greece, undertook the CPE at Birmingham University and the Law Society Finals course at De Montfort University. Kim qualified as a solicitor with Edge and Ellison (now Hammonds) and worked in their personal injury department. She went on to lecture at Nottingham Trent University, where she was involved in distance learning course provision, as well as the full and part time LLB, and was responsible for providing pastoral support to first year students. Kim also spent a couple of years working as a Magistrates’ legal adviser, and maintained her interest in training by becoming involved in the development and delivery of training for local magistrates.
Simon Cohl
Simon Cohl Deputy Academic Director
Simon studied law at Middlesex University before obtaining his LPC. This was followed by a Masters in Teaching from University College London. As head of law and senior advanced skills practitioner, he was involved in quality, training and development at Oakland College, St Albans. Simon spent five years as an independent schools inspector and Ofqual subject expert, and oversaw the accreditation of the new A-level reforms, including for law. He spent two years as head of school for academic studies, forensic science and business at Milton Keynes College, before joining CLS in November 2018. 
 Edward Stone
Edward StoneEditorial Manager
Edward studied Classics at St. Annes College, Oxford. He then trained to become a solicitor, specialising in probate and private client work. He later took up lecturing, and joined CILEx Law School in 1997. Edward is responsible for liaising with the freelance subject specialists who write our academic materials, and for managing the in-house editing and publishing departments, to ensure that our publications meet our quality standards, and that all materials are published on time. He is also a member of CILEx Law School’s Academic Development Group.
Lisa Kidger
Lisa KidgerE-learning Manager
Lisa graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first in law and completed her LPC with distinction. She has a teaching qualification through City & Guilds and a MA in Online and Distance Education from the Open University. As E-learning Manager she is involved in the oversight of the Student Area, the development of new e-learning materials, and the provision of academic support to students. Lisa is also a member of the Academic Development Group.
Michelle Braddick
Michelle BraddickBespoke Courses Manager
Michelle gained an LLB from the University of the West of England and completed her LPC at the Inns of Court School of Law. She qualified as a solicitor in 2008 specialising in property law, personal injury and employment law. Michelle has spent the past four years working with legal apprentices and is a qualified legal assessor and trainer. Michelle joined CILEx Law School (CLS) in July 2017 to manage CLS’ law teachers and provide academic support to students and apprentices throughout their studies.
