A second chance to build a professional career – Pauline Cadman

I used to work for Lancashire Constabulary, and thoroughly enjoyed it initially but after a number of years in the same job it just wasn’t fulfilling enough.

I moved to work for CM Law as a Trainee Legal Executive. I was 35 when I first started studying, and am a single mum with two teenage daughters. I had to take a reduction in salary from working with the police but it was worth it to get a job with real prospects for career development.

I work in conveyancing, family matters and probate/wills and my firm is very supportive of my studies. Studying at my age was initially hard, having to incorporate study time as part of my life. Now I couldn’t imagine being without CILEx because it has been, and still is, invaluable to my career. I have still got a long way to go before I qualify, but so far so good.

The changes to my life have been very rewarding. Now when clients ask questions I can answer with confidence. The people I work with can see a vast difference in my knowledge and self-esteem.
