“I joined CILEx Law School as an apprentice and completed Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeships in Business Administration before being employed on a permanent contract as a Customer Advisor. CILEx Law School is very good about giving staff the chance to develop professionally and personally by studying. Within the Customer Service Team we each have different areas of responsibility, and it made sense for me to take the Level 2 Diploma for Legal Secretaries, as this is one of the qualifications that I administer.
“Studying with CILEx Law School is great because you get lots of support. The thing I found most valuable was being able to speak with a member of the Academic team if I had any questions.
“Students have 15 months to complete the Diploma course, although it took me about ten. It’s quite heavily coursework-based which suits me better, rather than being assessed by an exam.
“Within the Diploma there are core modules and then an elective element where you can choose either additional secretarial modules, or alternatively you can take the legal studies route, which is what I did. This involves studying a general introduction to the legal environment, plus an overview of one area of legal practice. I chose Law in the Workplace, as I thought that it would be useful for me in the future.
“I’m definitely going to continue studying and am going to go on and do my Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries. After that I will do my CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice.”
