I left school with poor GCSE grades and no direction or career aspirations, and got a job as a copy/post room junior at Bird & Bird LLP.
To cut a long story short I have ended up qualifying as a Fellow of CILEx, assisting legal teams in providing Intellectual Property advice to clients, having first hand exposure to high profile court disputes and producing articles for legal journals. Bird & Bird is a leading IP firm, so I am a perfect example of how the CILEx route can help you achieve a successful and fulfilling career in law, whatever your starting point.
The fact you can enrol on the CILEx course as a mature student means it opens opportunities for those who wish to progress within a law firm, but do not necessarily have the school grades to do so. The exams are hard and not everyone passes, but there are great rewards for those who have the determination and ambition to succeed.
I’m looking forward to celebrating my success at the Graduation Ceremony.
