Champagne for civil litigation exam performance

Congratulations to CILEx Law School student Paul Oakley who was awarded the ILEX South Wales Branch Level 3 Student of the Year 2011 on Saturday 29 October at the Branch’s annual ball and awards ceremony at the St Davids Hotel & Spa in Cardiff. The ball was attended by ILEX President Susan Silver, ILEX Chief Executive Diane Burleigh, Lord Justice Pill and Judge Seys Llewellyn QC, along with colleagues from the legal profession across South Wales. Paul was presented with a certificate to mark the award and a bottle of champagne.

Paul achieved his award for attaining 91% in his Level 3 Civil Litigation exam in June. He has also passed all the other units required for his ILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice (Civil Litigation) and is now working towards his ILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice with CILEx Law School.

Paul told us: “I was delighted to receive the award. t was totally unexpected and I was so pleased that all my hard work had been recognised. I am currently working as a case worker in the litigation department of the South Wales and Gwent Police Joint Legal Services, based in the Gwent Police Headquarters. Following encouragement and support from my employers, I made a decision to obtain a formal qualification in law, with the intention of qualifying as a Fellow of ILEX in due course.”
