CILEx Law School collaborates with Chinese University to launch new course for Hong Kong

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (SCS) and the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) of England and Wales signed an agreement on 6 April 2009 to announce the launch of a new joint programme, the “Professional Diploma in Legal Executive Studies”.

CILEx Law School worked on behalf of ILEX to design the course to meet the new benchmark standards recently announced by The Law Society of Hong Kong. Starting in September 2009, the Programme provides an ideal route to obtain a law qualification for school leavers and working professionals.

Dr Victor Lee, Director of SCS, and Mr Mark Bishop, President of ILEX, signed the agreement in the presence of various guests and representatives from the two institutions.

At the signing ceremony, Mr Mark Bishop said: “This distinct programme draws on ILEX’s unique expertise in qualification and course material development in the legal sector, and SCS’s experience in delivering lifelong learning in Hong Kong. Graduates of this programme will meet the Law Society of Hong Kong’s benchmark standards, which will enhance the quality of service delivered by legal support staff working in law firms and the government sector. We believe that our long-standing association with Hong Kong will be strengthened through this collaborative venture between two progressive, forward thinking organisations.”
