Clyde & Co has announced its intention to introduce an apprenticeship scheme for school leavers within its Manchester-based Personal Injury team. The scheme sees Clyde & Co join a small number of Manchester based firms offering alternative paths to a legal career, providing apprentices with a unique first step into the profession.
The apprentices will join Clyde & Co’s market leading Personal Injury department in Manchester which handles matters including catastrophic injury, disease and fraud, where they will gain first-hand, practical knowledge through working with colleagues across the department. Throughout the 18 month programme, the apprentices will combine on-the-job learning with study, following a law and practice programme delivered by CILEx Law School. The apprentices will be recruited by Vision Apprentices and will follow the Civil Litigation pathway of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services.
HR Director Charlie Keeling said: “Clyde & Co is proud to support this Manchester based initiative, which will offer the apprentices a unique level of business exposure at an early stage in their careers and we understand the need to recognise and recruit talent at a grassroots level. We believe that widening access to the legal profession is key to ensuring access to a greater pool of talent going forward.”
Jenny Pelling, Business Director, CILEx Law School, said: “Clyde & Co are one of the biggest firms to become an ‘early adopter’ of the new legal apprenticeships, We are delighted to be working with them on this project and look forward to teaching these young people in the workplace.”
