CPS Caseworkers brave the storm to receive their Certificates from the DPP

The third caseworkers’ awards ceremony was held on 5 February at the Law Society in London. Many caseworkers had battled through the snow from all around the country to be presented with their Certificates in Criminal Prosecution by Keir Starmer, Director of Public Prosecutions and CILEx Law School’s Managing Director, Noel Inge.

The Director of Public Prosecutions said he was fully supportive of caseworkers and appreciated the important work they did for the CPS. After handing out the certificates, he chatted to caseworkers over drinks about their work. All the caseworkers were delighted to have the opportunity to speak to him.

Noel Inge of CILEx Law School said: “I believe our relationship with the CPS is very valuable with both parties profiting from the expertise of the other party. There are many similarities between the CPS and the ILEX Group, not least our belief in opportunity for all and that talent should be nurtured irrespective of the individual’s background.”

Also in attendance to watch the ceremony were Diane Burleigh , ILEX’s Chief Executive, Lesley Williams, Head of Legal Development at the CPS, Therese Matthews, Senior Learning Partner – North and Patrick Harwood, Senior Learning Partner – South.

As Viv McCue from CPS West Midlands said: “I had the most wonderful time at the Awards Ceremony.I wish we could do it all again,(with better weather of course).”

Congratulations to everyone who passed their Certificate in Criminal Prosecution last year, including those who couldn’t get to the ceremony. Perhaps we should hold it in the summer next time!
