Hear how ‘Apprenticeships Work’ for two of our employer clients

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme is ‘Apprenticeships Work’. To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week we have conducted interviews with two of our employer clients to hear how apprenticeships have worked for their organisations.

Lucy Dolan, Early Talent Manager at GowlingWLG, describes how the success of an early pilot has led to the apprenticeship programme expanding throughout the business. She discusses the challenges she encountered to obtain buy-in and how to overcome them as well as the benefits of employing apprentices. She also talks about how CILEx Law School has worked closely with the firm’s team, for example providing supervisor training. GowlingWLG took in a cohort of 19 Paralegal Apprentices in September 2018.

Rita McGuckin, Director of Learning and Development at Horwich Farrelly  talks about growing talent using an apprenticeship programme. She discusses the aptitiude and attitude that the apprentices have, the type of work that the firm’s apprentices have been undertaking and the top tips that have lead to the programme’s overall success. She also describes the level of support that CILEx Law School offers employers.

CILEx Law School works with organisations to develop their apprenticeship programmes from initiation to delivery, getting involved in the recruitment process, training supervisors, holding apprenticeship inductions and holding regular review meetings.

If you would like to find out how an apprenticeship programme might work for your organisation call Jenny Pelling, Director of Business and Apprenticeships on 01234 844326 or email jenny.pelling@cilexlawschool.ac.uk .
