International law firm Kennedys is to recruit at least five more legal apprentices to start in September 2014. This intake follows seven apprentices being taken on in September 2013 and ten in 2012.
The new intake will be recruited this spring for the Manchester, Sheffield, Chelmsford and London offices from this year’s crop of school leavers.
The new intake of apprentices will be doing the CILEx Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services, which is designed to train staff as competent paralegals. The apprenticeships will be delivered through CILEx Law School and Vision Apprentices.
Emma Phipps, HR Manager at Kennedys said: “The Level 3 apprenticeship has proved to be a fantastic vehicle for recruiting exceptional young talent straight from school. The young people who have joined us are eager and motivated, and we can already see that many are of the highest calibre.”
Jenny Pelling, Business Director for CILEx Law School said: “Kennedys’ announcement of a third intake of apprentices is an excellent endorsement of the legal apprenticeship as a means of attracting bright young school leavers into law.
The apprenticeship we offer also acts as an ideal platform for further development of those recruits who show a real aptitude for law, as it provides exemptions from part of CILEx’s professional qualifications.”
Abigail Smith from Vision Apprentices, who is managing the recruitment process, commented on the appeal of the legal apprenticeship: “Within two days of the apprenticeship going live, we have had 35 applications.”
