CILEx’s Employer of the Year 2012 Award has been presented to CILEx Law School client, Minster Law, at the annual CILEx Graduation Ceremony held at Bedford Corn Exchange on Monday 29th April 2013. The Award was won by Minster Law in recognition of the investment and commitment to its in-house CILEx Academy.
Minster Law, a specialist Personal Injury firm, has been running a CILEx Academy since 2011. It is currently fully sponsoring 37 employees to complete their CILEx qualifications through the Academy, which was set up to ‘homegrow’ its own staff through CILEx training. CILEx Law School was selected to be the sole provider of CILEx courses to Minster Law, and the two organisations have worked together to create a programme that meets the needs of their business. Courses are delivered by a combination of distance learning and in-house study days, provided by CILEx Law School staff and delivered at Minster Law’s premises during working hours.
Course fees, CILEx Membership and exam fees are all met by the firm, and students are given paid time off to attend exams. A vigorous selection process is in place to allocate the sponsored places. For those who do not receive full study sponsorship, there is a second option where Minster Law pays study fees upfront and employees can repay their fees monthly. 14 additional employees have been able to join the Academy because of this extra support.
Minster Law’s Senior Manager for Learning and Development Katie Jarvis, said:
“We attract and retain the very best people because of our commitment to ‘growing our own’. Our Academy broadens access to the profession by recruiting and training employees from all backgrounds. Students can work and study for professional qualifications, so responding to the growing concerns of student debt. Our extensive support network allows our people to be successful, demonstrated by our exceptional results in CILEx exams.
“Recruiting, developing and retaining these amazing people allows us to deliver our strategic objectives, and our CILEx Academy is central to our success.”
Noel Inge, Managing Director of CILEx Law School, who sponsored the £500 Employer of the Year award, said: “We are delighted that Minster Law has achieved this recognition. To set up and administer an in-house training academy for CILEx courses shows a real commitment to the development of staff, as well as a recognition of the business benefits that flow from nurturing committed and loyal employees.”
