National law firm Shoosmiths is currently in the recruitment process for legal apprentices to work in its Recoveries Service Practice Group. The apprentices will be amongst the first in the country to be recruited for the Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services, in September this year.
The apprenticeship training will be delivered and assessed by CILEx Law School. The successful candidates will hold three good A levels and will enrol on the Debt Recovery and Insolvency pathway of the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship. This is equivalent in academic levels to the first year of a degree.
Lisa Keating, Recoveries Manager, at Shoosmiths said: “This is an exciting opportunity for school leavers to join us as an Apprentice working with our banking clients in the Northampton office. We are a modern, forward-looking national firm with a focus on people, relationships and results. We see the legal services apprenticeship as an opportunity to nurture prospective legal advisors in the ethos of our firm alongside the study of law and practice.”
Jenny Pelling, Business Director for CILEx Law School said: “We are delighted to be working with Shoosmiths on this initiative, particularly given our long-standing relationship with the firm. These apprenticeships are ideal opportunities for local school leavers, getting their A level results on 15 August, and wondering if they really want to incur the debt of going to university, when they have the chance to start learning and earning straight away.”
Vision Apprentices is conducting the recruitment on behalf of Shoosmiths. Sandra Cowley, Managing Director of Vision Apprentices, said: “Increasing numbers of law firms are recognising the value that bright, young apprentices can bring to their business. The new Higher Apprenticeship offers a high-quality, alternative route to a legal career which is why we are so pleased to support Shoosmiths with this exciting project.”
