Nine staff at Trowers & Hamlins enrolled with CILEx Law School through new in-house academy

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has set up an in-house academy for CILEx training. Nine staff currently employed as paralegals and team assistants at the firm have been selected to enrol on courses with CILEx Law School following a competitive internal application process. Students based in London, Manchester and Birmingham will follow the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice.

Paul Robinson, Director of Human Resources at Trowers & Hamlins, said: “This training initiative, which offers an opportunity for advancement to staff who show the potential to become qualified fee earners, follows a review by the firm of its paralegal career structure.”

Kate Worzencraft, Head of Learning and Development at Trowers, said: “The Trowers & Hamlins CILEx Academy is a new and exciting venture for the firm, which has carved out a professional career development path for our paralegals and others wishing to pursue their legal career here. Working with CILEx Law School is a pleasure. They are highly knowledgeable and helpful every step of the way for our students.”

The training will be delivered by CILEx Law School using its supported distance learning method, which provides a structured programme of study and the opportunity to submit work to specialist tutors for marking and comment in preparation for CILEx exams.

Jenny Pelling, Business Director at CILEx Law School, said: “We are delighted that Trowers & Hamlins, like our other academy clients, have decided to use CILEx Law School to deliver a key staff development initiative.  CILEx courses deliver the knowledge and skills required for effective fee earning and we are confident that these members of staff will grow in confidence and ability over the period of their training.”
