Science graduate achieves early success with CILEx Law School

Congratulations to Jamie Lusk whose exam passes announced in yesterday’s results have meant that he has achieved the full CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice in just fifteen months. Jamie, who has a degree in Anatomical Sciences from Edinburgh University, is employed by DWF LLP in Preston and is one of the students sponsored through the academy scheme set up in 2011 with CILEx Law School (then ILEX Tutorial College). Jamie has studied all ten units by supported distance learning while holding down a demanding role as a senior paralegal in DWF’s Motor Insurance Department.

Nicola Goodman, CILEx Law School’s Learning and Development Advisor for the North West said: “ I am delighted to see Jamie achieve his Level 3 Professional Diploma after all his hard work. This shows that CILEx qualifications offer a great opportunity for non-law graduates to get into law without the cost of an expensive Graduate Conversion Course.”

Jamie’s manager, Victoria Jones, a Chartered Legal Executive who was also sponsored through her CILEx studies by DWF, said: “ It is great to see a bright young non-law graduate being able to flourish in the legal profession through the CILEx route. DWF’s in-house academy is successfully developing staff into competent fee earners through the training programme delivered by CILEx Law School. Jamie has been able to earn while he studies, and his increased knowledge of legal matters has been recognised through promotion and greater responsibility.”
