An induction took place today for the three young people who have been taken on as legal apprentices by Sheffield City Council. The day was run by CILEx Law School, who will be delivering training for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services, which the new recruits will follow. This scheme includes study of law and legal practice alongside workplace skills, and offers a number of different pathways, which can be selected to best fit with an individual’s area of work. The legal apprentices are placed in the Council’s Litigation, Property, Commercial, Social Care and Governance departments.
Steve Eccleston, Assistant Director of Legal Services at the Council said: “This is an exciting initiative for the department and we are delighted at the calibre of the young people that we have recruited to these posts. We are confident that they will shortly be contributing to the work of the our department in an effective way. This training route will equip them to climb the legal career ladder with confidence and we hope that some of them will grow, through follow-on training, to be the lawyers of the future.”
Nicola Goodman, Learning and Development Manager at CILEx Law School said: “It is always a pleasure to see newly recruited apprentices embarking on their journey and we look forward to working with the legal apprentices at Sheffield City Council to develop their knowledge and skills over the period of their apprenticeship.”
