International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has set up an in-house academy for CILEx training. Nine staff currently employed as paralegals and team assistants at the firm have been selected to enrol on courses with CILEx Law School following a competitive internal application process. Students based in London, Manchester and Birmingham will follow the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice.

BBC Commercial Rights & Business Affairs department launches in-house training scheme for CILEx courses
Thirty-six members of staff from the BBC’s commercial, rights and business affairs department are working towards CILEx qualifications in the context of a new in-house scheme set up with CILEx Law School. The training will be delivered by CILEx Law School and includes face-to-face and webinar teaching alongside distance learning and qualifying employment.
The Bar Standards Board is to introduce new training for its support staff in the English Legal System. Many staff within the BSB already have legal qualifications, but the new training, to be delivered by CILEx Law School will be offered to those in roles which do not specifically require existing legal qualifications.
The Government has today approved new standards, which will allow apprentices to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive, solicitor or paralegal. The standards meet the requirements specified by ILEX Professional Standards Limited (IPS) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive or Solicitor.
