- graduates with a qualifying law degree, via the Graduate Fast-track Diploma route.
At a glance
Duration: up to 5 years
Cost: None to the apprentice
Salary: Yes, at least apprenticeship national minimum wage
Qualification: Chartered Legal Executive Fellowship
Progression upon successful completion: Not required. You will be a fully qualified Chartered Legal Executive upon successful completion
Support and assessment
Delivery of the knowledge element is by webinar with some face-to-face teaching. You will sit exams set by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) as you progress through the programme. A CILEx Law School tutor will visit you in your workplace approximately every eight weeks to review your progress on the competence units. You will also need to complete a portfolio to demonstrate that CILEx’s qualifying employment requirements have been met and submit an extended case study showing that you can apply the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the standard to run a legal matter/case from start to finish as part of the end-point assessment.
Getting started
The Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship is generally offered to persons who are already employed and are progressing on completion of either the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law & Practice qualification or a law degree. Alternatively, if you hold one of the qualifications listed in the entry requirements section above, you can approach your chosen organisation, or current employer, and ask whether they might be interested in taking you on as an apprentice. Please direct them to CILEx Law School for further information or before starting as they’ll need to complete some administrative formalities.
